I'm looking at changing our car for one that we can wheel Sophie into the back whilst she's in her new buggy. Can anyone recommend where to go for advice?

Thanks,

Neil.

Nope. They don't want to know until Sophie is 3.

So in the meantime we have to somehow get Sophie, her wheelchair, ventilator, suction, sats and emergency equipment into a normal car.

Not to mention she's growing out of her car seat and is uncomfortable.

Will they not even offer advice? these people have no idea.....We had a renault kangoo for Sid...it was a bit basic but fine - the Mercedes vaneo was GORGEOUS but too expensive. Your OT should be able to do something about the Car seat...?

Rediculous that the child has to be 3, especially with the large amount of equipment that we have to take out.

Did you ourchase your own adapted car Vicki? If you did where did you get it from?

Thanks

Nettie

It wasnt adapted but gave us the space we needed - baring in mind that we got this when Sid turned 3, i found sliding doors and a higher seat really helpfull, Sid was a very big boy and we too had all the gear (except ventilator) not sure how long it would have lasted and they certainly took it back fast enough! Do you have a disabled childrens social worker or one at the hospice - they might have some ideas?

Thanks Vicki we do have a children's social worker and could also ask at CHASE (Hospice) so will try both routes and let you know how we get on! x

I've realised tht what we need is an old ambulance. So that Sophie can either sit in her chair if she is up to it, or lie down connected to her wet ventilator.

That way we can travel the world! BigGrin

If anyone has any experience or recommendations on dealers/traders I'd really like to hear from you.

We are trading in our car and getting a converted Renault Kangoo which will make it so much easier to take Sophie out and about. Frustrating that we have to sell our car to do this but Sophie needs and needs be must. I just need to get to grips with driving a manual car again (have been driving round in an automatic for the past 18 months!) x

The job is done. We have traded in our 4x4 with all the extras for a noddy car!! BigGrin

It's funny that all our 'older' neighbours and friends really like the renault kangoo!

It makes things easier for Sophie to go out and that is the main thing. Smile
