Sophie has now had her peg changed for a button! WooHoo!!

I think she's a little bit upset because she became fond of her peg, always pulling it and looking at it.

But the button is much better, not always hanging out !!

Hiya, Hows Sophie doing - she got used to the button now? Do you find it easier than the peg was? Whats maintenance like on it?

Hello Vicki,

She has got used to her button now thanks. I prefer it got a couple of reasons - it doesn't hang out of her clothes so looks better and is also more hygienic (you have to detach it and clean if after use)

However....it is generally more maintenance, it needs cleaning out and the gastrosotmy itself needs chaning if it starts to leak etc (which it has done once already). Also, Sophie has had a bit of soreness on and off where it has rubbed on her skin a couple of times which never happened with the peg.

So swings and roundabouts I think!

Are you thinking about getting Freddie's peg changed to a gastrostomy?

Nettie
