09/04/2010 01:30:29 Helen - Scotland I came across your lovely site whilst unable to sleep tonight. I work with ventilated children in the community much as your carers do. I have been doing this job for 4 years now and have worked with a variety of children and their families and they have all been very special to me. All the children have the common link of being ventilated but they all suffer from different conditions. I have looked after babies and 18 year old boys so as you can imagine the job description is very different each time! I know personally how hard it is for families to cope with the intrusion of carers into their homes - sometimes for 18 hours a day - but I also know that a special bond can emerge between carer, child and parents (and sometimes extended family). I am considering moving down to South East England to live and was searching the web looking for areas which provide ventilation support and who would welcome a trained ventilation support worker into their team. That is how I came across your site. Please accept my best wishes. Sophie is a delightful little girl and is lucky to have such devoted parents. All the best for the future.xxx
